Arnica

Arnica is a remedy for sciatica due to over-exertion. The acute pains are followed by a sensation as if bruised.

Bryonia

Colocynth

With pains in the sciatic nerve extending to to the knee and heel which is worse from any motion. It is aggravated by the cold with numbness and partial paralysis. The thigh might feel bound with iron bands or as though screwed in a vice, the muscles are tense and fixed. Symptoms are worse at night and in the cold or damp weather, there may be sticking and burning. It is hard to find a position without pain. Colchicum

Sudden, constant and intolerable right-sided sharp-shooting pains extending to knee, worse by motion; the patient must keep quiet.

Gnaphalium

With intense neuralgic pains along the nerve, and numbness. The whole trunk and the main branches seem affected, it is worse when lying down, worse from motion and better whiles sitting in a chair. The pains extend to the toes.

Lycopodium

Lycopodium is sometimes most useful in chronic cases where there are fine burning or stinging pains, or tearing, drawing or jerking pains worse from rest. The lithic acid constitution will decide the remedy.

Nux vomica

With lightening pain felt on the spinal cord with twitching and violent pains which mean you change position often. Pains shoot down into the foot, the limb is stiff or feels paralysed and cold.
